Out in the Universe: August 15–30
The first half of August gave me a lovely little run through some of my favorite parts of New Orleans summer.
White Linen Night, for one. I made my way through a few galleries, including Callan Contemporary and Octavia Art Gallery, and had a beautiful time being out on Julia and Camp streets, staring down canvases and letting myself be inspired by what other people are making. I wish I could have seen more but it was SO crowded that I popped into a few of my favorite stops and then called it a night.

A good time was had at the Satchmo Summer Fest Parade. I always enjoy my time walking raddy with the dolls. The Original Black Seminole Babydolls were one of several Babydoll groups sashaying through the Tremé on Satchmo Sunday.
I also loved my unplanned but ordained stop at NOLA x Nature for their 1 year anniversary on St Bernard on August 2nd. It was my first time in the space and I was so happy to catch such a blessed celebration with great art and artists as well.
And now, somehow, we are already halfway through August.
So here’s where I’ll be for the rest of it.
Saturday, August 15 | Bri & the Sparkling Diamonds
Saturday night we’re getting collegiate for Bri & the Sparkling Diamonds’ university-themed show at the AllWays Lounge.
We’ll be in the Twilight Room for the 10:30 PM show, and I’ve been having entirely too much fun figuring out exactly what kind of university woman LegsforeverXO, your resident kitty, intends to be.
I do have one sincere regret about Saturday night: I cannot split myself in two. Buku Burlesque is back at House of Blues the very same night, presented by MzJuno of The Juno Project, with a full cast of headliners. If you’re out and about this weekend, New Orleans is always giving you options.
Thursday, August 20 | Bing-Oh!
I’ll be at Bing-Oh! at Sports Drink on Thursday, August 20 at 7 PM. Hosted by Geneva Joy and Jon Reynolds.
“Play sexy games. Win naughty prizes,” they said. I’m going to check that out.
Come play.
August 29–30 | Anime Conclave
The rest of the month is largely being dedicated to getting ready for Anime Conclave, New Orleans’ anime, gaming and pop-culture convention, happening August 29–30 at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside.
I’ll be performing as part of the evening entertainment at the con on Saturday, August 29, and I’m preparing two cosplays for the weekend.
I’ll give one clue: one of them is my favorite character from Record of Ragnarok. I am GEEKED! The other is a reprise…but for burlesque. Let’s see where I land in these first runs.
DM me for tickets to the Saturday night show!
Meanwhile, behind the curtain…
There’s plenty happening that isn’t on a stage.
I recently published my Showgirl Wish List, which is exactly what it sounds like: a record of the things I’m actively building, making, learning, performing and calling into this next era of my work, along with some of the people and resources I’d love to connect with along the way.
The wishlist is also unexpectedly helping me heal some of the lack I was feeling around my ideas and being open to sharing them. I like that I get to create out loud in this next phase of my performance practice. Even more excited for the co-creation I’m making space for. The interest form is my favorite thing that came from my decision to share this way and I really hope people use it.

And if you haven’t read my recent Lovers Once, that’s waiting for you too. Typical lovergirl crooning and typing lol but I really freed up a lot of unresolved energy in my heart space here. It’s vulnerable, sure. Mostly just needed to get it off of my chest.
I’m also getting ready to begin a monthly LegsforeverXO newsletter. A love note directly to your inbox.
The newsletter will let me go a little deeper than I can here: into my artistic process, what I’m making and studying, what’s coming up on the calendar, what I’m looking forward to, and the different ways I’m interested in connecting and collaborating.
There are performances coming. More workshops are coming. There are costumes being made, ideas becoming real things, and plenty happening behind the tease.
I’d love for us to enjoy the journey together.
